WHAT YOU CAN STUDY

There are over 10 programmes available within the School of Theology.
If you’re looking to deepen your knowledge of the Bible and theology, there’s a study pathway for you.

Diploma in Christian Studies (DipCS)

This one year qualification provides you with an introduction to Biblical studies, theology, and spiritual formation.

This is the perfect entry qualification into theological study if you are new to study or if you want to deepen your knowledge about the Bible and the Christian faith.

Bachelor of Theology (BTh)

The Bachelor of Theology is a three-year degree that provides students with a solid foundation in biblical studies, theological knowledge, and reflective practice.

Within the degree, students can specialise in areas of interest such as theology and history, biblical studies, ministry and church leadership, missions and culture, and the gospel in Aotearoa.

Graduate Diploma in Theology (GradDipTh)

The Graduate Diploma in Theology is a one-year qualification for those who already hold an undergraduate degree in another discipline and wish to deepen their understanding of the Bible and theology.

Graduates have returned to their vocations with renewed insight, engaged in missions and community development, trained as teachers, or moved into church leadership.

Postgraduate Study

Laidlaw offers a range of postgraduate programmes to suit your needs, whether you want to upskill in your current ministry, or embark on theological research and leadership.

Enjoy a supportive scholarly environment while engaging with world-class scholars at Laidlaw, a leader in theological education in Australasia and New Zealand’s highest-ranking non-university research institution.

“I truly believe it’s the pre-eminent theological institution in New Zealand. It’s the breadth of the study, of knowledge, the way the staff require you to think. They don’t spoon feed you.”
Stephen Mataia
Theology Graduate
“I found that Laidlaw had the best options in terms of Indigenous Theology. The lecturers were so knowledgeable and it was great being able to connect with others who had a passion for Christianity in Aotearoa.”
